Iowa's John June Year fill the gap between British guitar rock, the raw and artsy sounds crafted by the mid-60's Velvet Underground, the early 2000's garage rock revival lead by the Strokes and Interpol, and contemporary indie rock torch-bearers such as the Arctic Monkeys.  The bands arresting guitar hooks, swaggering bass lines, low-end heavy pacing synths, and laconic vocal delivery combine to create a no-frills rock and roll sound that begs for repeated listens.
